Who We Are Holy Angels Daycare Centre is the designated pre-school in Carlow for children with special needs from the age of 18 months to 6 years. We have been providing specialized services since 1978. If you would like to read more on the history of the Holy Angels please click here. I would like to welcome you all to our website and hope you enjoy browsing and find it interesting and helpful. It was fitting that 2003 the European Year of Disability we celebrated our Silver Jubilee. That same year gave us a summer to remember, Ireland hosting the Special Olympic World Summer Games when Ireland "Shared that Feeling" and showed the world how to look at the abilities of these wonderful athletes and not their disabilities. Every athlete was totally dedicated and committed and we could all take a leaf from their book.... Team Ireland did our country proud and we are very honoured at Holy Angels to have five past pupils who participated and won medals at these games. Over the past years 150 children have availed of the services at Holy Angels. Every one of these children came with their own special talents and abilities. With the support of a very dedicated team each of these children have grown and developed into individuals we are all very proud of. At the moment we have 24 children attending Holy Angels. Facilities include a Hydrotherapy Unit, a Soft Play area, a Multi-Sensory room, an Outdoor Play area, a Family Room and Classrooms equipped to a very high standard. However we all know that facilities on their own do not make a successful centre. It is the dedication and committment of staff that makes it successful. I am very lucky as the manager of the Holy Angels to have a wonderful team of staff who give over and above the call of duty at all times and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all sincerely. Our newest venture at Holy Angels has been in the area of respite care. For the past year we have provided weekend respite on a monthly basis to children with special needs from 9 months to 18 years. In 2006 with an increase in our budget we plan to provide this service two weekends per month. This is proving to be a very valuable service and all parents who have availed of it have come back looking for more. Our long term plan would be to have a purpose built house and to provide respite six nights per week and also to offer emergency respite. I would also like to thank the Board of management who are a constant support to me. Each member gives their time on a voluntary basis. If I request something for the children, no stone is left unturned to provide it. I would like to thank the Health Service Executive (South East Region) and the people of Carlow for their constant support. I
would also like to thank the parents of our children both past and present
for all their support over the years and look forward to their continued
support in the years to come. I would like to take this opportunity
to thank everybody who has helped and supported us in anyway down through
the years and hope for your continued support in the future. |
